Dessert or Deceit, 2010

Today is the anniversary of Danish immigrant Christian Kent Nelson, a schoolteacher and candy store owner, receiving the patent for his delicious ice cream invention, “The Eskimo Pie.” I love all kinds of candies, sweets and deserts of all kinds. You don’t get a handsome figure such as mine by eating mundane, everyday veggies. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Nelson for his tasty treat. I love Eskimo Pies, and I ain’t lyin”

Which brings me to today’s daily rant. I know that we all tell lies at one time or another. Some big ones, some small ones, some little white ones, some as brag such as fishing stories, some by mistake and some are just out and out blatant acts of deception.

Sometimes we even do to spare others feelings, like when we see an acquaintances new baby and they ask, “Beautiful isn’t she?” We just get that uneasy feeling in our stomach and say something like, “Oh my, yes, that baby is something, well sure she is beautiful, heck, all babies are beautiful.” Or, “Do these jeans make my belly look big?” Usually that is followed by our wives saying, “Ah, no, Honey, you look great.” We even lie to ourselves. Some men, not any of you, but others I know, will look at themselves in the mirror, suck their bellies in and say out load to themselves, “Ya, I do look good.

What do we have to do in this nation to get politicians that don’t lie to us every time they open their mouths? Can it really be that hard to find honest people and send them to Washington, or is it Washington itself that drag’s them into the cesspool that is our nation’s capitol?

Judging from history, it would seem that Franklin Delano Roosevelt lied, just about everything, including hiding his numerous affairs, before and during his time as President. He also hid his actions to specifically entice the Japanese to war.

He took the oath to protect and defend the Constitution of The United States, but had this to say, “Throughout the nation men and women, forgotten in the political philosophy of the Government, look to us here for guidance and for more equitable opportunity to share in the distribution of national wealth… I pledge you, I pledge myself to a new deal for the American people… This is more than a political campaign. It is a call to arms. ”

He gave our nation some of the heaviest handed government that is with us still today through its wasteful spending, its entitlements and its heavy tax burdens.

Lyndon Baines Johnson, Richard Milhous Nixon, “I’m not a crook,” just their names say everything. Bill Clinton and, “I did not have sexual relations with that woman,” Monica Lewinsky, Hillary Clinton and her dodging gun fire in Bosnia and, “I have no idea how those Rose Law Firm records were lost but showed up on a Whitehouse chair later on, beats me.” John Kerry and his war record. Al Gore, well, Al Gore!!!

Right now we are starting to hear all of their campaign commercials on TV and radio. You hear the same thing over and over from the candidates, “I have always been a conservative,” or “my conservative voting record.”

Do they really think we are all stupid? The days of our heads being stuck in the sand are over. We are taking back our nation, one election at a time from here on out. Republicans tell us they are fiscal and social conservatives all the while spending us into slavery (TARP and Stimulus) and taking away our constitutional rights (McCain – Feingold).

During this primary season, we have got to hold the RINO’s accountable for their betrayals and do our best to get new conservative blood into the party. We need to thank McCain, Hutchison, Collins, Snowe, Graham and others like them for their services, and send them home. FOR GOOD!!! We can then help new, true conservatives to defeat the stateists and progressives in the Democratic Party.

Now, go and enjoy some delicious dessert.
