It’s a Charlie Brown Christmas, or Oh Tannenbaum, Oh Tannenbaum,

How bout a lump of coal with that Christmas Tree

“O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree, How are thy leaves so verdant!” Charlie Brown is notorious for his taste in Christmas trees. Not that ol’ Chuck doesn’t have the right motives involved, he is of course, a block head according to leading psychiatric specialists. Well, at least in the mind of Lucy Van Pelt anyway.

Here ya go children. In the spirit of the holiday season, President Obama’s tax-cut deal with Republicans is becoming a Christmas tree filled to the brim with gifts for lobbyists and lawmakers. They continue to grow the government tree to bursting. I hate to keep beating a dead sleigh bell covered horse, but!

“O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, You fill my heart with music.” The tax deal, reached behind the scenes now includes ethanol subsidies for corporate farms, commuter tax breaks for the cities and wind and solar grants for the environmentalists. All of this music to the ears and aimed at winning votes from reluctant Democrats.

It’s all expected to come to a decisive vote next week, total cost by the latest congressional estimate: $857.8 billion.

“O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, You give us so much pleasure!” Almost $5 billion in subsidies for corn-based ethanol and a continuing tariff to protect against ethanol imports were wrapped up and placed under the tree for farm-state lawmakers and agribusiness lobbyists. Environmentalists won more grants for developers of renewable energy, like wind and solar.

And for the city folk lawmakers, there’s a continuation of tax breaks that could save mass transit commuters about $1,000 a year. Not only an almost free ride but a tax break as well. Other tax provisions are aimed at increasing production of hybrid automobiles, bio-diesel fuel, coal and energy-efficient household appliances would be extended through the end of 2011 under the new add-ons.

“O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, Forever true your color.” Last Christmas Eve, the U.S. Senate gave all of us Americans a lump of coal known as Obamacare. This year, they may take even more of our money to fund it. House Democrats pushed through a continuing resolution yesterday that funds Obamacare and extends overall funding for the next year.

Senate Democrats will offer an amendment to make it even worse with a full-blown omnibus appropriations bill packed with earmarks, spending increases, and even more funding for every top Obama administration priority. And the best part, yes you guess it. In keeping with the GOP’s true colors, some Senate Republicans are poised to help the Democrats pass it.

Rumors say that despite the fact Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell pulled the official Republican support for the omnibus, a group of Republican is planning to vote for the massive bloated spending bill in exchange for a parting Christmas gift of pork-barrel goodies for their states.

“For every year the Christmas tree, Brings to us all both joy and glee.” The most likely culprits are the three retiring appropriators: Kit Bond of Missouri, George Voinovich of Ohio, and Robert Bennett of Utah who will never face voters again. Plus, there’s also the highest-ranking Republican appropriator: Thad Cochran of Mississippi.

We don’t know what exactly is in the omnibus yet but we do know that Kit Bond requested 142 earmarks this year totaling over $600 million. George Voinovich requested 172 earmarks totaling over $460 million, Robert Bennett requested 321 earmarks topping $1.3 billion, and Thad Cochran, wait for it, wait for it, bam, requested a measly 712 earmarks totaling over $2.4 billion.

Other Republican senators worth worrying about identified themselves last week when they voted against the Coburn-McCaskill amendment to ban earmarks: Susan Collins (R-Maine), Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), Dick Lugar (R-Ind..), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), and Richard Shelby (R-Ala.).

“Reminding me on Christmas Day, To think of you and then be gay.” All Senators need to be forcefully reminded that this will be the first vote on funding Obamacare. This will be a signature issue in the 2012 election. Where do Republicans want to stand on this issue? Will we think of them and be happy? Yea right.

The bottom line is that this Congress had all year to do its job and pass legislation to fund the government before the November midterm elections. They wouldn’t do it then because some still needed to be re-elected and the others knew they needed the cover till they left Washington. They should not now be rewarded with a massive omnibus spending bill on their way out the door.

“O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree, Thy candles shine out brightly!” In an interview on public radio, Minnesota’s Democratic Rep. Keith Ellison suggested that Democratic lawmakers “need to create a real crisis” to force Republicans to renegotiate President Obama’s tax cut compromise. On Thursday, a majority of House Democrats voted to reject the deal, including Ellison, the recently elected co-chair of the House Progressive Caucus.

Following the vote, Ellison said Democrats “need to create a real crisis here so that the Republicans will have to answer for denying Americans unemployment benefits on the eve of the Christmas holiday. We let them off the hook in my opinion.” He went on to say that Democrats should have bargained harder because… we’re going to fundamentally shift the income spread in this country.”

With regards to the estate tax, Ellison says Democrats are “giving away” trillions of dollars by not taxing estates at a higher rate. Really, when exactly was it “their money” anyway? They continue to let their socialist light shine don’t they?

“Each bough doth hold its tiny light, That makes each toy to sparkle bright.” And now on top of all this, outgoing Sen. Bob Bennett (R-Utah) said Friday he’s privately discussed the prospect that Republicans would pursue their own version of the DREAM Act next year.

Bennett said he would vote for the immigration legislation, which gives immigrants who were illegally brought to the U.S. as children a conditional pathway to citizenship, if Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) brought it to the floor under the right conditions.

If that fails, the outgoing senator said, Republicans have privately discussed the prospects of writing and passing a version of the DREAM Act that could make its way through Congress.

“O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, Forever true your color.” Well Merry Christmas ya filthy animals, and a Happy New Year. Looks like nothing has changed because of the 2010 elections and if we don’t keep our feet on the necks of Republican’s we can be assured that our elected government will continue to steal the freedoms and dreams of the American people and give them to those that don’t deserve it.

Snoopy versus the Red Baron or Hang on Snoopy, Snoopy hang on.

Snoopy, WWI Flying Ace vs. The Red Baron

Snoopy was Charlie Browns canine companion in the Peanuts cartoons. Whether in video version or comic strip, Snoopy was his own dog. Besides being almost human (he even walked on two legs), Snoopy was known to take on a variety of alter-egos. (Often, the strip or narrator would begin with, “Here’s the world-famous [name of occupation]”).

One of Snoopy’s more famous alter-egos was as the World War I Flying Ace. During these fantasy’s, he was often seen battling his arch-enemy, Manfred von Richthofen, the Red Baron. When assuming this personality, Snoopy would wear goggles, a leather flying helmet and a scarf.  He would climb on top of his doghouse, which he claimed was an infamous WWI fighting airplane, the Sopwith Camel.

Like other adult figures in Peanuts, The Red Baron was never seen in the comic strip. We knew he was there as was indicated through the bullet holes that would riddle the doghouse.  We would see Snoopy shaking his fist and see his cries of “Curse you, Red Baron!” while his “Sopwith Camel” doghouse plummeted to earth trailing smoke.

Defeat didn’t really happen to our lovable beagle. It was only in the fantasy world that he lived in. Reminds us of some others out there that seem to cry foul over some made up injustice or over some feigned defeat that they had endured.

The current elected officials in Washington seem to do this quite often. No more relevant case in point could be made than that being made over the extension of the current rates. Democrats want to call it an extension of the Bush tax cuts. It is the current tax law. They do this slight of hand in an effort to cover up the fact that they want to raise the American Peoples taxes.

They use Bush’s name as a curse word because the far left hates George W. Bush. Just as Snoopy would say, “Curse you Red Baron”, Obama says, “Curse you George W. Bush, you Robber Baron” about anything and everything.

They do it because so many of the American public are so out of touch with reality today that they just follow what ever the left has to say, believing it as if it were gospel. Speaking of gospel, in today’s sermon of the tax cut extension, they have added  sweeteners which could serve as a legislative pacifier for Democrats who are outraged over the supposed concessions given by President Obama to the Republicans.

The new, what is now, the 10th stimulus-sized package, includes about $55 billion worth of short-term tax extensions for businesses and individuals. It includes Among the extra provisions are a tax credit for biodiesel, a tax credit for ethanol, extensions of tax credits for energy-efficient homes and appliances, and credits for training mine rescue teams.

It would allow millions of dollars worth of expensing for film and production companies doing work in the United States, give breaks for the rum trade in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, provide incentives for investment in the District of Columbia and provide other benefits for the battered Gulf coast. The 45-cent-per-gallon ethanol subsidy alone, extended through 2011, was estimated to cost about $5 billion.

The Republicans tell us they are making this deal the keep Americans taxes from going up after the first of the year. The Democrats tell us they are making this deal the keep Americans taxes from going up after the first of the year. Both sides sit on their rears with fists in the air and yell, “Curse you, [blau, blau, blau]”. And as it would seem, we all fall for it. This package will cost about $855 billion.

As every election passes, especially since 2008 and the anointing of “The One”, it has become more and more obvious that this whole process is a ruse being perpetrated on the American people. “Hope and Change”, yea right. “Scott Brown saved the day”, huh? “With enough recounts, Al Franken’s the winner”, really? Lisa Murkowski received the entire write in votes”, Wow.

This tax cut extension or what ever is a lie. It is a lie being told by both sides of the isle. And with just a few exceptions, they are all in on it. All of the Democrats and most of the Republicans see it as just another chance to push through an emergency, gotta get it done now, rape of the American middle class.

Both sides are telling us that they have to spend all this money to keep our taxes from going up. Really? Really? Maybe you and I are just stupid. It seems to us that if these tax rates have been in place for ten years, and no one said they had to spend a trillion dollars to have them, why do we have to spend a trillion dollars to have them now? I’m just sayin’. It gets worse every election doesn’t it?

We all need the tax rates to stay the same. We do and the country does. Washington sees this as a great cover up to steal more from us. Just extend the rates, period.

Our American way of life is spiraling to the ground, the smoke billowing from it just as it did from Snoopy’s Sopwith Camel dog house. Bullet riddled and weary from the battle, we have all but smashed on the rocks below. We hold our fists high to the sky and yell to those elected, “Curse Washington Red Barons, curse you”. Only to be ignored, spat upon, raped and racked over the coals again.

The Red Barons of Washington fly away, looking down on us and laughing at the newest hoax they have perpetrated on us. “Here’s a tissue,” they say, “clean yourself off and quit your whining, you elected us”. We did, didn’t we? Makes you think doesn’t it? We elected them.

What do we do now? “We hang on Snoopy, Snoopy hang on”. Continue your efforts to rid our government of these would be elites and replace them with good human beings. It may be too late to save us, but never give up the fight. “Hang on Snoopy”.

PS: I know, I know,  Hang on Sloopy by the McCoys. Doesn’t work though!

Charlie Brown and the Bolshevik Revolution. (Slight Return)

Everyone knows the troubles he’s seen. It is world famous and every school child has witnessed it for themselves. Mr. Charles Brown. Dog lover (Snoopy, Joe Cool of the comic world), sportsman (baseball as well as football), snappy dresser (saddle oxfords and the same zigzag shirt worked for fifty years) and possessor of endless determination and hope. But, as fate would have it, he is a Blockhead!

Charlie Brown, whether he was an unmitigated optimist or just a lovable idiot, just never seemed to get the world around him. He never did a thing in his life with malevolent intent but could never see the bellicose environment in which he lived. His most notable antagonist was his arch enemy, Lucy Van Pelt.

The Russian Revolution is a term used for a series of revolutions in Russia in 1917, which destroyed the Tsarist autocracy and led to the creation of the Soviet Union.

During the first, The February Revolution of 1917, the Czar was deposed and replaced by a Provisional government. The army leadership, though loyal to the monarchy felt they did not have the means to suppress the revolution and Czar Nicholas II of Russia abdicated. The February Revolution took place in the context of heavy military setbacks during the First World War, which left much of the army in a state of mutiny.

In the second, The October Revolution, the Bolshevik party, led by Vladimir Lenin, and the workers’ Soviets, overthrew the Provisional Government and replaced it with a Bolshevik (Communist) government.

The Bolsheviks appointed themselves as leaders and established the Cheka to ruthlessly quash dissent. To end the war, the Bolshevik leadership signed the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk with Germany in March 1918.

A brutal civil war erupted between the “Red” (Bolshevik), and “White” (anti-Bolshevik), factions. The war was to continue for several years, with the Bolsheviks ultimately being victorious. 9,000,000 people died during the revolution years of 1917 – 1921. This was in addition to the already 3 -4,000,000 killed during WWI. Add another 51,000,000 Russians murdered under Stalin’s regime (1924-53)

United finally, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) was the arch enemy of freedom. They never wavered in their totalitarian mind set until 1990. The Democrats and Socialists in our country and Europe are still sad at its demise.

The point you ask? The point is, just because the Democrats in the White House and Congress seem to be at cross purposes over keeping the current tax rates in effect, don’t see it as some sort of division that can help the conservative cause. They are still, all of them, liberal, leftist, statist ideologues. They may spar within their own ranks but will always rally around the red flag of union workers party.

Conservatives will make a huge mistake in believing that this will open the door to Tea Party conservatives to push forward their own agenda. It won’t. Their Comrade will never leave his Marxist mindset behind. His goal is the fundamental transformation of America. Period.

Those with him on most issues believe that everything in America belongs to the government. Anything that you have or make or earn is theirs first unless they decide to let you keep it. Congressman Wiener recently stated this when he said that those that inherit wealth did not earn it and do not deserve it so the government can take as much of it as they want.

Do not get side tracked by their slight of hand. The tax rates should not go up next year. They are stealing enough from us already. But don’t let it distract you from what they are doing. Adding another 200 billion to the debt, $56 billion worth of long-term unemployment benefits, blau, blau. It is the same old thing just being repackaged under the guise of being bi-partisan, Republican backed tripe.

Reject it. If the Repubs want to do the right thing, stop everything they can and when the have the majority in the house next year, get us something that will truly help the country. The President is giving in on this for some reason. Watch both hands while dealing with a slight of hand Marxist.

Poor Charlie Brown. If he didn’t have bad luck…well you know the rest. Its football season isn’t it. You remember football season for Charlie don’t you? Lucy Van Pelt promised to hold the football for him this time. She promised not to pull it away again. Charlie fell for it. Again! She pulled it away. Again! He busted his butt. Again! Seems the Republicans in Washington could do well by re-watching the old Schulz cartoon could they.
