National Defense Authorization Act

These are serious times for our beloved Republic.

Please bear with me as I quote another patriot of another country who’s words should make all of us stand up for the preservation of our great Republic.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?… The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If…if…We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation…. We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.” — Aleksandr Isayevich Solzhenitsyn, 11 December 1918 – 3 August 2008) was a Russian and Soviet novelist, dramatist, and historian.

The Senate is gearing up for a vote on Monday or Tuesday that goes to the very heart of who we are as Americans. The Senate is going to vote on whether Congress will give this president—and every future president — the power to order the military to pick up and imprison without charge or trial civilians anywhere in the world. Even Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) raised his concerns about the NDAA detention provisions during the last Republican debate.

The powers contained in this bill are is broad that even U.S. citizens could be swept up by the military and the military could be used far from any battlefield, even within the United States itself.

The worldwide indefinite detention without charge or trial provision is in S. 1867, the National Defense Authorization Act bill, which will be on the Senate floor on Monday. The bill was drafted in secret by Sens. Carl Levin (D-Mich.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.) and passed in a closed-door committee meeting, without even a single hearing.

Sen. Mark Udall (D-Colo.) is offering the Udall Amendment that will delete the harmful provisions and replace them with a requirement for an orderly Congressional review of detention power. The Udall Amendment will make sure that the bill matches up with American values.

In support of this harmful bill, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) explained that the bill will “basically say in law for the first time that the homeland is part of the battlefield” and people can be imprisoned without charge or trial “American citizen or not.” Another supporter, Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) also declared that the bill is needed because “America is part of the battlefield.”

The solution is the Udall Amendment; a way for the Senate to say no to indefinite detention without charge or trial anywhere in the world where any president decides to use the military. Instead of simply going along with a bill that was drafted in secret and is being jammed through the Senate, the Udall Amendment deletes the provisions and sets up an orderly review of detention power.

In response to proponents of the indefinite detention legislation who contend that the bill “applies to American citizens and designates the world as the battlefield,” and that the “heart of the issue is whether or not the United States is part of the battlefield,” Sen. Udall disagrees, and says that we can win this fight without worldwide war and worldwide indefinite detention.

The senators pushing the indefinite detention proposal have made it clear that they want an okay for a worldwide military battlefield that even extends to your hometown. Do they not understand the basic tenets of our Constitution? Do they not remember that our war of independence was fought because of a tyrannical government that was doing just this to its people? If this passes it will forever change our country.

To borrow from another,
“Single acts of tyranny may be ascribed to the accidental opinion of the day; but a series of oppressions, begun at a distinguished period, and pursued unalterably through every change of ministers (administrators) too plainly proves a deliberate, systematic plan of reducing us to slavery.”–Thomas Jefferson

But, we are all sure that this power would never be abused, say to imprison or kill political dissidents. What is their reason for pushing this type of legislation through, once again under cover of darkness? Could it be that they know the financial sector is going to fall. Do they believe that the American people will revolt against them, the very ones that have benefited from the Wall Street and banking debacle? Why do they feel the need to have the great military might that the world has ever seen at their disposal? Is it to smash their own nation’s citizens who will revolt over having their wealth and future stolen? Being stolen by the very same people who are now writing this new law?

With the left wing and the Democratic Party celebrating the OWS Marxists and anti-capitalists while condemning the Tea Party and conservative Americans as racists. We find ourselves being herded toward an almost pre-determined election out come. While we the working class of this nation pray and hope against hope that change will be coming in 2012, we have to break our fixated attention from the GOP dog and pony show.

We have to come to grips with a future that may be completely different from the past that made this nation great. We have to accept that the government by and for the people is, well, coming for the people. Continue to stand for our Republic. Stand for freedom.

OWS and the trash behind it

Here is the spontaneous, student lead, grassroots, non-affiliated, everyday man’s protest. There couldn’t be any union or Marxist’s organizers behind all of this. Could there.

Patriots, see the truth. If you are not standing up against the unions and those that turn to Mao for inspiration. If you spend your hard earned money to send your children to American University’s, if you think that “Ok, there are a few bad apples”. If you think or say, “Ok, they are getting out of hand, but I agree with their basic thought of Wall Street Fat Cats being the problem and you don’t stand up against what is going on now, you become part of it. If you don’t bring your college kids home or if you continue to back your union because, “it’s the other union’s not mine”, you are not seeing the forest fire for the trees.

I personally agree that there has to be change in the government and financial system in this country. But, not fundamental change of the Republic. Lets send these politicians and bankers to jail for stealing from us but lets save the Republic. The OWS organizers do not want justice; they want chaos and the fall of our Republic. A few facts from their web site:

Just a few more facts about these, “99%” protesters:
Excerpted From Stu Burguire:
Hmmmmmm….November 17th??? Why November 17th??? Of all days, why would a leftist organization pick November 17th to stage a mass protest??
The CFR reminds us of the significance of that date:
What is November 17?
A radical, leftist Greek terrorist group, also known as 17 N or N 17, with a tiny membership and a loathing for America, the West, and capitalism…
What sort of attacks has November 17 launched?
The organization’s first known attack came in December 1975, when the CIA’s Athens station chief was shot with a .45-caliber pistol, November 17’s favorite weapon. Since then, the group has claimed responsibility for twenty-one murders, including the killings of a U.S. Navy captain, a U.S. defense attaché, a Turkish diplomat, and a British defense attaché. November 17’s initial attacks were directed at senior U.S. officials and Greek public figures, but during the 1980s the group expanded its operations to include bombings of ordinary citizens and property.
Where did November 17 get its name?
From the November 17, 1973, student uprising at Athens Polytechnic University. Twenty students were killed when Greek army tanks suppressed the protests, and the group formed in part to retaliate against the ruling military junta.
–So, we have a far left protest group, with tons of communist, socialist, and anarchist ties.
–We have a group that’s focused on the banking meltdown and it’s resulting potential cuts in public services, a situation playing out most prominently in Greece.
–We have one of the most prominent academic supporters specifically calling for Greek style riots.
–We have a poster made for the protests, aside from the obvious Communist imagery, that utilizes tanks. Why tanks? Again–”Twenty students were killed when Greek army tanks suppressed the protests…”
We’re supposed to believe that this organization HAD NO IDEA that they were scheduling their highest profile event so far, on the exact date that inspired a Communist terrorist group that hated American capitalism?
They MUST have known. THEY MUST HAVE KNOWN.
So what does that mean for us?
UPDATE: I admit to starting this post with half tongue-in-cheek as mockery for our treatment by the media for 8.28. But, honestly—I’m convincing myself a little. The official Occupy Wall Street site is literally calling the march the “N17 Mass Direct Action.”
Again from the Council on Foreign Relations: “November 17, Revolutionary People’s Struggle, Revolutionary Struggle (Greece, leftists)” is “A radical, leftist Greek terrorist group, also known as 17 N or N 17” who aims to launch “an anti-capitalist popular uprising against the Greek middle and upper-classes.” When is the last time you heard someone say “we have our Christmas party on D22.” “I was born on F9.” Who says “N17” for November 17th? Is that common here in America?
Sorry for the length of this rant. It is important that we, the Patriots of this great Republic that still love our way of lives and still love this nation understand that this is more than your college kid blowing off steam. What thses people want is nothing less than what we have witnessed in the Middle East and Europe. The down fall of western way of life as we know it. Why? Because they believe in the hearts that this time, they will get it right and all the worlds people will be equal. Forget what happened in China, Soviet Union, Hitlers Germany, Cnetral Africa, South East Asia. They know better than you.

OWS and the Law to Remedy the Distress of the People and the Nation

Currently in all of the world’s headlines we see the unrest in Europe and now America. Major cities downtowns are being over run and occupied by the so called “99%”. But is that true? Do you, the conservative, Republic loving, Tea Party backing American citizen feel like they are representing you. After all, weren’t these same people backing the OWS crowd calling you racist haters of Obama and people of color just this last summer?

How many Tea Party protests ending up with riots against the police, burning of buildings and violence against people and property? Didn’t Tea Party protest attendees leave the parks and public places cleaner when they left at the end of the day than when they started? Are the OWS crowd’s your comrades? Are they just another, younger crowd of Tea Party protesters? Or, is this the start of something worse? Or is it something that could threaten our Republic and the American way of life. Here is a little food for thought.

The Russian Revolution is a term used for the series of revolutions in Russia in 1917, which destroyed the Tsarist autocracy and led to the creation of the Soviet Union.

In the first, The February Revolution 1917, the Czar was deposed and replaced by a Provisional government. The army leadership felt they did not have the means to suppress the revolution and Czar Nicholas II of Russia abdicated. The February Revolution took place in the context of heavy military setbacks during the First World War, which left much of the army in a state of mutiny.

In the second, The October Revolution, the Bolshevik party, led by Vladimir Lenin, and the workers’ Soviets, overthrew the Provisional Government and replaced it with a Bolshevik (Communist) government.

The Bolsheviks appointed themselves as leaders and established the Cheka to ruthlessly quash dissent. To end the war, the Bolshevik leadership signed the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk with Germany in March 1918. However a brutal civil war erupted between the “Red” (Bolshevik), and “White” (anti-Bolshevik), factions, which were to continue for several years, with the Bolsheviks ultimately victorious. 9,000,000 people died during the revolution years of 1917 – 1921. This was on top of the already 3 -4,000,000 killed during WWI. Add another 51,000,000 Russians murdered under Stalin’s regime (1924-53)

The Chinese dynasty’s reigned from Kublai Khan’s Yuan 1271,through the Ming and Qing dynasty’s till 1912. The Chinese Civil War started in 1927 and was fought between the KMT or Chinese Nationalist Party and the Communist Party of China (CPC).

The civil war carried on intermittently until the Second Sino-Japanese War. During that war, the two parties formed a tentative alliance until Japan’s was defeated in 1945, At that point, China’s full-scale civil war resumed in 1946. After a further four years, 1950 saw a end to major hostilities, with the newly founded People’s Republic of China controlling mainland China under Mao Zedong and the Republic of China’s jurisdiction being restricted to mainly to Taiwan under Chiang Kai-shek. 3 – 4,000,000 million died 1928 – 1949 in the civil war. Another 20,000,000 died in the war with Japan 1937 -1945. Under the People’s Republic of China, Mao Zedong’s regime (1949-1975): 40- 75,000,000 Chinese were murdered by the Chinese Government. You can add 1,500,000 Tibetians

On March 20th 1923, the Bavarian Minister of Interior refused to forbid Nazi SA, The Sturmabteilung abbreviated to SA (German for “Storm detachment” or “Assault detachment). They were better known to Americans and usually translated as “stormtroopers”. The SA functioned as a paramilitary organization of the Nazi Party. It played a key role in Adolf Hitler’s rise to power in the 1920s and 1930s.

The Reichstag fire was an arson attack on the Reichstag building in Berlin on the 27th of February, 1933. Marinus Van der Lubbe, an unemployed bricklayer, was charged in connection with the fire. The fire was used as evidence by the Nazis that the Communists were beginning a plot against the German government. Adolf Hitler, who had been sworn in as Chancellor of Germany four weeks before, on January 30th, urged President Paul von Hindenburg to pass an emergency decree, “The Reichstag Fire Decree”, suspending civil liberties. The Nazis went from being a plurality party to the majority; subsequent elections confirmed this position and thus allowed Hitler to consolidate his power.

On March 20th 1933, the Dachau concentration camp was built by the coalition government of National Socialist Party (Nazi Party) and the German Nationalist People’s Party (dissolved on 6 July 1933). Heinrich Himmler officially described the camp as the first concentration camp for political prisoners. Dachau was operated until 1945. It became the prototype for all other camps. 25,613 prisoners died in the main camp and almost another 10,000 in its outlying camps.

And, finally, in March of 1933, The Enabling Act was passed by Germany’s Reichstag and signed by President Paul von Hindenburg. It was the second major step, after the Reichstag Fire Decree, through which Chancellor Adolf Hitler legally obtained plenary powers and established his dictatorship. It received its name from its legal status as an enabling act granting the Cabinet the authority to enact laws without the participation of the Reichstag for four years.

The formal name of the Enabling Act was Gesetz zur Behebung der Not von Volk und Reich (Law to Remedy the Distress of the People and the Nation). Hope and Change my Patriot friends.

World War II was the deadliest military conflict in history. Over 60 million people were killed. 6.6 to 8.6 million Germans died during the Nazi Regime of a population 69 million.

Where does it all stop? Maybe the world will look back in history and see that OWS was beginning of the end. The “Last Great Hope for Freedom in the World” started its march toward national suicide. They will see that we gave up our freedoms to corrupt politicians who were getting and giving bribes and kick backs to each other. The crowd in the OWS doesn’t seem the grasp that they are becoming the, “USEFUL IDIOTS” of the radical leftwing and their “HOPE and CHANGE”.
